Process
Upon choosing to participate in treatment at The Anxiety Wellness Center of Chicagoland (AWCC), a 60-minute intake session will be scheduled. Please note that it is not unusual for the assessment to take longer than one session, due to the importance of the clinician to conduct a full assessment. Once the assessment is completed, specific treatment goals will be developed to tailor the remainder of the process to target the specific areas of interference.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
CBT is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment that is considered the first line psychotherapeutic treatment for anxiety, OCD, depression and related disorders. Through CBT, your clinician will help you learn how to address the unpleasant thoughts, change the maladaptive coping mechanisms/safety behaviors, and learn how to tolerate unpleasant emotions and physical sensations.

Services
Individual sessions are conducted with adults, adolescents and children. During these sessions, the patient and therapist work together to develop treatment goals and begin practicing the necessary skills and strategies to meet those goals. Family sessions will be conducted, typically with child or adolescent patients, as necessary. Family sessions may also be appropriate for adult patients in order to help the spouse, significant other, adult child, etc. better understand and support the patient’s treatment between sessions.
